We attended NEA's 1st annual Day of Learning. The general session opened with a panel discussion, Improving Schools Through Collaboration moderated by TV personality, Tavis Smiley. This was a provocative, challenging and informative session about public education.
Highlights of the numerous breakout sessions were: NEA's Commission on Effective Teachers & Teaching's vision for 30 years forward in the profession of public education & Stopping the Rhetoric, and Working Together, sponsored by the Minority Community Outreach. Diane Abraham addressed Congressman Louis Guittierez and the esteemed panel how best teachers can stop the rhetoric between elected officials and teachers' unions. (photo later)
