So today of course SUNDAY!!!! and it was quite an experience... A lot of walking, and walking and of course walking, but it was a great view of seeing many different buildings, memorials, monuments, and people. We were fortunate to go to the Vietnam Memorial. It was even more heartwarming to us, because we got to etch the veterans of Moloka'i, and also share our chant which was composed by Kumu Manuwai Peters. Also, the Arlington Cemetery was very much breath taking to see how many people died to protect our country in the many different wars. Here in Washington, I've noticed that we as students will LEARN much more due to this week. I am very happy to meet people from Washington State, New Orleans, and other places. Will see what else Close-Up has in store for us. So keep in touch with our post updates. ~Jessica <3

Today we got to go to the Vietnam Wall Memorial and the Arlington Cemetery. At the Vietnam Wall, we found our veterans and shaded their names on papers to prove that we found them. While walking back to the metro, we saw a vendor who was selling the same hat that I bought yesterday for half price. I bought two hats for the same price as the first one I bought, Jessica bought 2 jackets for half of the price she paid for 1, and the boys bought hats and souvenirs. While at Arlington we saw the changing of the guard and it was very interesting to watch. When we got back to the hotel we met our roommates and then ate dinner. We got to mingle with the other students and I found out I am the youngest girl here, Paul being the youngest out of everybody. It was fun meeting new people and what they do different from us.
